After being granted her release from the USSSA Pride, Kamekona, 29, signed with the Bandits as a late-season pickup last year on July 23, 2016. In 17 games in Chicago, she batted .300 with two home runs and six RBI.
Kamekona, who will be joining her fifth NPF team since signing with the Carolina Diamonds as an undrafted free agent in 2012, provided a veteran presence in the clubhouse during the Bandits’ 2016 Cowles Cup championship run. In her five-year professional career, she has hit 13 home runs with 71 RBI and 10 stolen bases.
Kamekona made her Bandits debut as a pinch-hitter in a 2-0 loss to the Pennsylvania Rebellion last season.
In exchange, Texas will receive the 22nd and 25th overall slots in the 2017 NPF Draft.
The charge is looking forward to having AK on the Charge this season and excited to see what the vetran player will bring to the team!
